Mary A. Van Deursen, 93, of Milltown entered into God’s Loving Care Monday, April 13, 2020. She was
born in South Amboy, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School class of 1944.
Mary retired after 41 years of service from Merck & Company, Rahway as a secretary in the Plant Health
department.
Daughter of the late Timothy and Anna Cheeseman Gleason, she is also predeceased by her sister, Anna
G. St.Amour, and her loving husband of 58 years, Kenneth G. Van Deursen in 2010.
She resided in Milltown for the past 60 years, and was a supporter of the Community. She was a
longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Mary was also a member of the Milltown Seniors, and
enjoyed many friendships along with the quilting group. Among the many things that she loved were
ballroom dancing with Ken, taking numerous cruises with Ken and friends, Big Band music, quilting, and
Boston cream donuts. Mary will be remembered by many for her beautiful smile and kindness. Mary
was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew and
loved her.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Mary St. Amour-Rimassa and her husband Paul Rimassa
of San Antonio, Texas, Karen and her husband Ron Coman of Tafton, PA, Rodney Van Deursen and his
wife Nancy of Annandale, Virginia, and Richard Van Deursen and his wife Dorothy of Hockessin,
Delaware.
Private funeral services were held at The Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home, and interment was held at
St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Amboy, N.J. A Memorial Mass to celebrate and honor her life will be offered
on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, Milltown. Arrangements are under
the direction of The Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown NJ.
