Martha Jane Schnurr

In Loving Memory of Martha Jane Schnurr (March 5, 1931 – April 2, 2024)

We announce with heavy hearts the peaceful passing of Martha Jane Schnurr on April 2, 2024, at the age of 93. 

Martha was born into a vibrant large Italian family, one of nine children, to Josephine and Nicholas Canale. She grew up in Watertown, NY where she worked with her family in the famous Canale’s Restaurant.  She treasured that time of her life and had lots of stories from her time there. 

This is where she met the love of her life, Donald Schnurr. In 1961, they married, embarking on a journey of companionship that would last 53 years. 

Martha had a wonderful life. She loved tomato sandwiches with lots of mayonnaise, whiskey sour was her drink of choice and NY Yankees was her favorite team. 

Martha will always be known for her humor, sarcasm and the gift of great story telling!  Her ability to connect with people was a gift to all who crossed her path. 

She loved to vacation, especially in Florida, and she loved to laugh  with her extended Canale family. 

Martha was blessed with the love of her 3 children, Donald Jr., Michael, and Tracy, their spouses Marti,  Lella , and Doug, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, extended family, and friends. 

Martha will be laid to rest in North Brunswick, New Jersey, next to her beloved husband, Donald, reuniting them in eternal peace. Her story will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.
