John M. “Grampy” Morris, 76, of North Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, February 7th, 2021 after many courageous health battles over the past three years. John was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and ultimately settled with his wife Irene and daughter Terry in North Brunswick, NJ in 1970.
John proudly served his Country during 1966 and 1967 in the Vietnam War as a Spec 4 in the 175th Combat Engineers, loved his country and could always be seen wearing and displaying the flag of the United States of America. John was the definition of a true patriot. He retired from Verizon as a lineman and communications technician after over 30 years in 2005.
Everyone who is fortunate to know John will remember him as outgoing, warm, friendly and always there to lend support or enjoy a good conversation. He made friends wherever he went and was always good for a laugh or a story. It was plain to see John’s passion for life, he was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace, a former member of the Rangers A.C., enjoyed weekends in Atlantic City, riding his Harley Davidson and working around his house and yard. John’s favorite past time though, was anything he could do with his grandchildren, he was always there for trips to the beach, a dip in the pool, birthdays, school events or just a daily visit. His true passion was cheering them and their sports teams on. He rarely missed a game all year whether it was softball, baseball, volleyball, basketball or cheerleading, the whole team knew him as Grampy and as their biggest fan.
John was the most loving a husband, father and grandfather a family could ask for and John’s family was very important to him.
He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Bertha Morris, and nephew Johnny Leszczak, niece Debbie Marosi and grandnephew Jacob Marosi.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Irene, his daughter Teresa “Terry”, son-in-law Tim Culhane, grand children Katrina and Brian Culhane.
John is also survived by his sister Dolores “Dee” Leszczak, brother-in-law John Leszczak, nieces and nephews Dolores “Dee Dee”, Michael, Susan, Christine and grandnieces and grandnephew as well.
