Joan Polon Obituary

Joan Polon of Conway, SC (formerly of Spotswood, NJ) passed away January 12, 2023 with her loving family at her side.  Born in Perth Amboy and raised in Newark, NJ by Peter and Violet Settiner, she was a graduate of South Side HS.  Joan met her future husband Robert on a Fourth of July weekend visiting Spotswood Lake.  Joan settled in Spotswood in a house newly-built by Robert and raised two daughters.  She was employed for 32 years by Spotswood Public Schools until her retirement.  Joan loved anything Disney and was fond of traveling to Disney World.  She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother and treasured time spent with family.  Joan also had a deep and abiding love of animals that showed in the many different types of pets she had over the years and the care she took of each of them.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years Robert, daughter Denise, and siblings Peter, Anabel, Florence, and Phyllis; Joan is survived by daughter and son-in-law Jeanette and Norbert Ramirez; grandchildren Matthew Ramirez, John J. Blackmire, Jr. (Deserae), and Christian Blackmire (Joshua); great-grandchildren Kyle, Sara, and Dana; and many loving nieces and nephews.  Joan also leaves behind her beloved Max the Dog, Roscoe Doodle, and the cats.
