He was an electrician by trade and was employed as the Supervisor of Utilities for the Borough of Milltown for over 25 years.

He was a Boy Scout, played and coached Little League baseball and enjoyed camping, canoeing hunting and fishing. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and proud Pop-Pop to his six-pack of grand-girls and bonus grandson.

He left behind his wife Kathleen Shanabrook (Christian) of Milltown, NJ; daughter Beth Biermann and husband Erik of Mullica Hill, NJ; son Ryan Shanabrook and wife Vanessa of Millstone, NJ; Granddaughters Isabel, Amelia, Lydia Jayden, Arianna & Savannah and Grandson Jay, Brother Jed Shanabrook and wife Linda of Chapin, SC; Sister Jan Schaeffer and husband Matt of Clearwater, FL; nieces and nephews Erik, Denise, Kevin, Kyle, Kelly, Casey, Ashley and Alex; and last, but not least, his cocker spaniel Charlie.
