Frank Florczak Obituary

Frank J. Florczak passed from this life unexpectedly but peacefully on November 9, 2023, at home in Milltown, New Jersey. He was 86.
Frank is survived by his children – Glenn P. Florczak and his wife, Magdalene; Donald M. Florczak and his wife, Andrea; Lara R. Florczak-Reyes and her husband, Ron; and Peter M. Florczak and his wife, Heather – grandchildren Thomas Florczak and his wife, Elizabeth, and Nicholas Florczak; Dana, Miles, and Ava Florczak; Elora and Aja Reyes; and Samantha Dunbar and her husband, James, and great-grandchildren Theodore Florczak and Luke and Boden Dunbar.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Florczak; his parents, Frank and Helen Florczak; his brothers, Walter and James Florczak; and his daughter, Jennifer J. Florczak.
Frank was born on May 23, 1937, in Linden, New Jersey. All his life, Frank loved the outdoors, and he spent his childhood hunting, fishing and camping. He earned the rank of First Class Boy Scout in Linden’s Troop 42 and was an active member of the Outdoors Club at Linden High School, from which he graduated in 1956. Upon joining the United States Marine Corps, he earned sharpshooter proficiency in boot camp, served aboard the USS Boxer in 1958, and was sent to Lebanon as part of a peacekeeping mission. Frank was honorably discharged in 1960 with the rank of Corporal.
Frank married Barbara Ptasznick in 1961 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Linden and in 1968, moved to Milltown, New Jersey, where they would raise their family and for decades celebrate holidays with their children and grandchildren. He spent many years working at Gordon’s Gin distillery and bottling plant in Linden and served as recording secretary for the local AFL-CIO union. When the plant closed, Frank received training as a carpenter and worked for various home builders. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, and by example, he passed his can-do attitude along to his family.
Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life and on many occasions would take his grandchildren fishing to the Mill Pond in Milltown and to the Fourth of July Fishing Rodeo. He also loved classic cars (he could name them all), history, investing and reading. He will be remembered as a practical problem solver, a pillar of strength, a person who made the best of situations, and a man who showed his love by his deeds.
The viewing will be held at Bronson & Guthlein funeral home in Milltown, New Jersey, on Thursday, November 16 between 4 and 8 PM.  Final ‘good-byes’ before the funeral Mass, will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 17 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.  The funeral is scheduled for 11 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Milltown.
