On Monday, November 16, 2020 just nine days shy of her 97th birthday, Emma Sillcocks, loving mother, grandmother and friend was taken by the angels to her final home in heaven. Emma was born on November 24, 1923 to Charles and Emma (Geair) Hippeli. Born and raised in East Brunswick, NJ, she met the man of her dreams Francis “Cookie” and they were married on November 3, 1946. They raised five children in NJ; Margaret “Peggy,” Joyce, Gregory, Emily and Gerard. Emma began her career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and during World War II, she worked at Raritan Arsenal assembling wartime equipment. After raising her five children, she returned to work at J.C. Penney where she eventually retired. Upon retirement, Emma and Cookie moved to Clearwater, FL to spend their golden years in paradise.
Emma was a devout Catholic. She also loved spending time with her family, playing cards and Bingo. She never forgot a birthday and sent greeting cards to her entire family. Emma’s optimistic and positive personality resonated through everyone she met. She had an uncanny ability to always find the good in people.
She was a congregant of Our Lady of Lourdes churches in both Milltown, NJ and Dunedin, FL. At Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin, FL she was long-time member of the Circle of Joy prayer group.
Emma was a 50-year member of the New Jersey Grange Organization.
She also served on the Executive Board of the Countryside Estates Mobile Home Park in Clearwater, FL
Emma was predeceased by her husband, Cookie Sillcocks and her daughter, Joyce Sillcocks. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Hippeli of North Brunswick, NJ, Margaret Pintauro of Clearwater, FL, Emily Sillcocks of Longboat Key, FL, Gregory Sillcocks of Cape Coral, FL, and Gerard Sillcocks of Cortlandt Manor, NY. She had seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A Catholic mass will be held on November 30, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes in Milltown, NJ Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cranbury, NJ. Please wear masks and practice social distancing if you plan to attend.
