Claire M. Gray 
March 13, 1936 - October 8, 2020 
 
Claire Mary Gray (Howarth), 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family 
at home in North Brunswick, NJ on October 8, 2020.   
 
Claire was born in Milltown, NJ to Joseph Howarth and Madeline (Lyons) Howarth.  
She was 1 of eleven children.   
 
Claire was both a devoted wife and mother.  She enjoyed traveling with her 
husband and children and loved taking road trips to visit family members out of 
state.  She liked spending summers at Midway Beach and loved game nights with 
family and friends.  Her true passion was being surrounded by her grandchildren 
and great-grandchildren.   
 
Claire is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Gray, Jr. and her children, 
Deborah Langone & her husband Ralph of Helmetta, Ricky Gray & his wife Kelley of 
North Brunswick, Karen DeWitt & her husband Robert of North Brunswick and 
Kelly Laske & her husband Michael of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Cheryl Bergen, 
Michael Doyle, Nicholas Gray, Alisha Purcell, Raven DeWitt and Kenneth Wright; 
great-grandchildren Charlotte, Norah, Dylan and Oliver; siblings Catherine Hines of 
Pinckney MI and Henry Howarth of Old Bridge NJ and many nieces and nephews. 
 
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph & Madeline Howarth; siblings 
Madeline Howarth, Rosemary Mazer, Robert Howarth, Joseph Howarth, Barbara 
Gunia, Richard Howarth, Raymond Howarth and Patricia Muraszko. 
 
In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Claire’s memory, we ask that all who wish 
to participate make a donation to Compassionate Care Hospice.  Donations must 
be made payable to “Amedisys” and mailed to 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton 
Rouge, LA 70816.
