Barbara Lee (Mainwaring) MacDowell

Barbara Lee MacDowell (née Mainwaring) of East Brunswick, NJ passed away surrounded by her 
family on October 11, 2021 at her home.  She was 80 years old. Born to Thomas and Iris Mainwaring in 
Brooklyn, NY, the family relocated to NJ and Barbara graduated from New Brunswick High School.  
Barbara married her beloved husband Richard W. MacDowell in 1960 at the First Methodist Church of 
New Brunswick.  The inseparable couple recently celebrated 61 loving years of marriage.  She was 
employed by the Credit Union of Personal Products, Peoples National Bank of North Brunswick, 
Hometown Bank of Edison, and PNC Bank.  She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of 
Christ, Milltown, NJ. 

Predeceased by her parents and son Richard, Jr.; Barbara is survived by her husband Richard, daughter 
and son-in-law Patricia and Chris Kastner, daughter-in-law Maureen MacDowell, sister Donna Pinter, 
grandchildren Stephanie Shumanov and her husband Max, Thomas Kastner, Hunter MacDowell, and 
Taylor MacDowell. 
 
Final disposition is private under the direction of the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown.
