Arlene R. (Hensel) Mowery

Arlene R. Hensel Mowery of Milltown, NJ died peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 8, 2022, after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Milltown, Mrs. Mowery was preceded in death by James H. Mowery Jr., her husband of 23 years, her parents Henry Hensel and Gertrude Graulich Hensel, sister, Donna Lee Young, sister-in-law Sarah Perdoni, and companion, Donald Redmond.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Lachenmayer of Shamokin, PA and  Marlene Terranova and husband, Wayne of Milltown, 2 Godsons, 5 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces and nephews, Cameron Szucs of Jacksonville, NC and Ian Szucs of Jamesburg, NJ to whom she was lovingly known as “Nan”, and many cherished  friends.  

A graduate of South River High School, she worked as an office manager and sales person for local appliance stores, most recently, Redmond’s Appliance in North Brunswick.

Arlene was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Milltown, where she taught Sunday school for 45 years in the primary department and was a member of the Women’s GUILD.   

She enjoyed travel, the Jersey Shore, dancing, music, celebrating and decorating for all the holidays, her nurturing role as surrogate mother and grandmother, and time spent with family and friends.

Friends will be received Saturday 9:00am-10:00am at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown.  The funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00am at the funeral home followed by interment at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ
