Roy John Rittman of Edison, NJ passed away January 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. Born in New Brunswick, NJ and raised in Milltown, NJ, he was a resident of Edison for over 60 years. Roy proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He worked as a cabinet maker/furniture refinisher for several companies. He was a member of Grace Reformed Church, Edison where he served as an Elder and was actively involved in the Youth Group.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Virginia (née Petry); daughter and son-in-law Linda and Werner Hoehn, son and daughter-in-law Roy and Patricia Rittman; and son Greg Rittman; grandchildren: Megan, Erin, Brian, Avery and Jack; brother Eugene; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his father, Eugene Rittman, his mother, Mary (Younger) Rittman and his grandsons Kevin and Bradley. Roy was an avid fisherman who shared his passion with his children and grandchildren. From trout to tuna, he caught them all. His other passion was gardening. He kept an immaculate lawn, beautiful flowers and prize tomatoes. Additionally, he enjoyed handcrafting beautiful pieces of furniture for his family. Roy was a very giving, selfless man who will be greatly missed. The family will welcome friends Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown. Funeral service Friday 10am at the funeral home followed by interment at Van Liew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
