John W. Ott, Jr.

John W. Ott, Jr. of Milltown, NJ passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 surrounded by his family, friends, and loved ones.  He was 71 years old.  John grew up traveling the world with his Diplomatic parents.  Born in Buffalo, NY, he was raised around the world in Turkey, Nepal, Truk, Somalia, and Africa before graduating from Roosevelt High School in Oahu, Hawaii.  He went on to receive his Bachelors in History from the University of Albuquerque, NM and proudly entered the US Army where he spent 23 years in service to his country and fought honorably in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.

He retired to Milltown in 1992 to raise his family for the next 27 years.  John had an avid passion for history and enjoyed traveling around the US to National Parks, historic monuments, museums, and Civil War battlefields. 

Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Theresa Ott and parents John Wellington and Marie Theodora Ott; John is survived by son John W. Ott, III and partner Sheri Franco, sons and daughters-in-law Bill and Carol Ott and Jim and Kristie Ott; grandchildren: Kylie, Mikayla, Pierce, Preston, Nyomi, Parker, and John W.Ott, IV; brothers and sisters-in-law Patrick and Elaine Ott and Dennis and Ilene Ott; cousin Iris Hall; in-laws: Nancy Cahill, Bill and wife Patty Cahill, Vinny and wife Jackie Cahill, Kate and wife Barbara Cahill, and Peggy and husband Gary Martino; and nine nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Monday 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ. The funeral service will be celebrated Tuesday 11am at the funeral home. Final disposition is private.
