James Anthony Curran, 83 of Milltown, New Jersey, passed away on May 29, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. James was born on December 28, 1934 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, to his parents Joseph and Agnes (Sebeskie) Curran. He graduated from St. Edwards High School in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, in 1953 and served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. James later married the love of his life Janice Wetzel on June 6, 1964 and they would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year. He worked for the New Brunswick Post Office as a letter carrier for 40 years, until he retired in 2002. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Milltown and was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Knights of Columbus.
Predeceased by his sisters Rose Marie Latsha and Kathleen Berran, both of Shamokin, PA, and by his parents, also of Shamokin, PA; James is survived by his wife Janice Curran of Milltown, his son Mark Curran and daughter in-law Joyanne Curran of North Brunswick, his daughter Leslie Thompson and son-in-law Scott Thompson of Milltown, his daughter Merry Lynn Stanley and son-in-law John Stanley of Columbus, NJ, and his grandchildren James Curran, Courtney & Andrew Thompson, and Alyssa & Kyle Stanley. He is also survived by his brothers Joseph Curran of New Haven, CT, Gerald Curran of Pequea, PA, and Rev. Anthony Curran of Atlanta, GA. Visitation will be held at Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home in Milltown on Sunday, June 3, 2018, 1:00pm-3:00pm and 5:00pm-7:00pm. Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Milltown. His brother, Reverend Anthony Curran will be officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg.
