Gertrude W. Holmes (née Yurko) 92, of Milltown, NJ passed away at RWJ Hospital on November 15, 2019.
Born in Nanticoke, PA on February 9, 1927, her family relocated to New Brunswick, NJ when she was 16. She was a resident of Milltown since 1952. .
Gertrude was a seamstress for various sewing companies in her life, and was a member of the ILGWU. She also worked for the Personal Products Div. of J&J for many years. She was a homemaker for some time after the birth of her daughter. She enjoyed making many outfits for herself, her daughter, and sister. She got great enjoyment out of playing bingo, and was sometimes lucky, but most times not. She enjoyed crossword puzzles in the paper and she loved dogs.
Gertrude was predeceased by her parents Susan and Steve Yurko, sisters Margaret Hudak and Lillian Tamosaitis, and brother Ernest Yurko.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Thomas Lewis of Piscataway, NJ and cherished sister to Mary J. Yurko of Monroe Twp. She is dear aunt to Walter Tamosaitis of Washington State, Robert Tamosaitis of California and Deborah Yurko of West Virginia
Family and Friends may visit on Tuesday from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown.
Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church of Milltown, where she was a lifelong parishioner. Internment at St. Peters Cemetery to follow.
