Gene Morgan

L. Eugene Morgan passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019 at his home in North Brunswick, NJ with his wife by his side. He was 92 years old. He was born on July 10, 1926 in Abington, PA. He was the son of the late Rev. William T. Morgan, II of Spotswood, NJ, former Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Spotswood, and the late Laura S. Morgan. He and Elaine Bush Morgan of Union, NJ were married in Union on October 3, 1959 and made their home in Metuchen, NJ. They resided in North Brunswick, NJ from 1965 until present. Gene served his country as a member of the US Army from 1944-45 in the Joint Assault Signal Company. He was honorably discharged before being deployed to Japan following his father’s death in 1945 to become the sole supporter for his mother and siblings. He was employed by E.I. DuPont, Parlin, NJ and retired in November 1984 as a Product Technologist after 41 years of service.  

After retiring from DuPont, Gene formed and owned Morgan Graphics printing company. He was a member and Past President (1993) of WBCCI (Airstream Club) Watchung, NJ Unit for 19 years. He and his wife Elaine attended many rallies and caravanned to Alaska and Canada’s Hudson Bay to see the polar bears. Being from NJ, he was closely connected to the Statue of Liberty Rally as parking chairman for many years.  

Gene was a former communicant of Christ Episcopal Church, New Brunswick, NJ and of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Dade City, FL. Gene was a member and former Municipal Chairman of the North Brunswick Republican Club, as well as former member of American Legion Post 459, North Brunswick, NJ. His many hobbies included the Princeton MacIntosh User Computer Group, NJ Woodturners, and Bucks County Woodturners of PA. The Morgans wintered at Traveler’s Rest Resort, Dade City, FL. While at Traveler’s Rest, Gene helped to form and was co-chairman of the TR Wood Shop. He was also the chairman of the Auction Committee for 10 years as well as volunteering at the Snack Shack.  

Predeceased by his brother William T. Morgan, III and son-in-law Todd Snyder, Gene is survived by his beloved wife Elaine, son and daughter-in-law Russell E. and Anne Morgan, daughter Donna M. Snyder (widow of Todd), grandson Brian T. Snyder, and sister Dorothy Picard. Family and friends will be received Saturday 1-5pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ. The funeral service will be celebrated Saturday at 2pm.
