Andrew R. Filkohazi, III "Big Andy" of Monroe Twp., NJ passed away May 22, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. He was 79 years old. Born in New Brunswick on June 16, 1938 to the late Minnie Boice and Andrew Filkohazi, II; he was a long-time resident of Milltown, NJ and Forked River, NJ before relocating to Monroe Twp. in 2016. He was a loving father, husband, and friend who always put family first. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, dancing, relaxing in the sun, the beach, taking care of his beautiful lawns, and running after his beloved grandchildren. Andrew was the owner and operator of Acme Valve Ins. Inc. of New Brunswick for over 34 years before retiring in 1988 and turning the family business over to his son. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years Patricia R. Filkohazi in February 2018, his son Liggett in 2012, sisters Joan McGowan and Jean Clark, and brothers Russell DeMark, Theodore Filkohazi, and John Filkohazi, Andrew is survived by son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Kelly and daughters and sons-in-laws Christina and Steven Astone, Cynthia and Joseph Daily, and Barbara Filkohazi and Doug Cole. He is also survived by grandchildren Andrea, Claudia, Danielle, Chelsea, Alexandra, Steven, Hannah, Kyle, Joey, and Marissa; great-grandchildren Ethan, Kendal, and Charlotte Rose (expected in July); sister Patricia Hendricks, sisters-in-laws Barbara Lagrace and Rose Roziti, and brother-in-law William Kunsevich; dear friend and caretaker Monique Chambers; and many nieces and nephews. Andrew’s family will welcome friends Sunday, June 3, 3:00pm at Life Church, 2245 Rt. 130, Dayton, NJ 08810.
